Last of October/November/December

 Here is another photo dump from the past few months! I have been doing very well. I've definitely gotten better adjusted and am starting to understand the language more and more! It is nice to finally understand conversations and be able to contribute to them as well...hahah!

Other than attending school and studying every day, I have been doing some very fun things! I meet up often with the other exchange students from AFS in my area for organized events. We met up at restaurants and also went to a Christmas market and Puppet theatre together to see 'A Christmas Carol'. 

I also made my host family and some friends a Thanksgiving dinner! It was very special and nice to share an American tradition that is one of my favorites with them! I never realized just how detailed it is to cook a turkey😂! But the food turned out good and so did the evening.

Christmas markets, or 'Weinachsmarkt' have started and are in almost every town! I have been to quite a few and they are very fun. There are also many other German Weinachten (Christmas) traditions that I have been able to experience!

And now I am on Christmas break! Christmas break lasts for about 2 and a half weeks which has been a nice break. On Christmas (Germans celebrate Christmas on the 24th of December) the Weihnachsmann (Santa Claus!!) came to our house to give us presents. However, everyone has to say a poem or sing something in order to actually get the present. I learned a German poem, and Tia and I played jingle bells on the saxophone! Then for dinner, we had something very German... a long hot dog and potato salad!

Christmas Time/January/February/beginning of March

It's been a long and busy couple of months with many memories made! Just recently the weather has been getting much better... the sun is finally shining and because of that I think my mood has been drastically boosted! I almost can't believe just how fast time has gone by! Here are some snapshots from some of my favorite memories! March: A highlight of a city near me is that they have the best sushi restaurant! I went there with a friend and ordered crunchy sushi. New sunglasses for the bright sun! I have been taking long walks every afternoon after school. It is very pretty! September and October

  The past two months have been filled with so many fun and amazing experiences! My host family have been the most kind and welcoming people! Sandau is small, with only 600 residents, but beautiful. Havelburg is a bigger town 5 kilometers from Sandau, and that is where I attend school. School is very different, but my classmates are nice! They all know English very well, so I am able to communicate and talk with them! It's hard to understand much of what the teachers say, but I try😂. I have been studying hard to learn German! Here are some pictures from my time here so far! The past week I have had fall break, which is 2 weeks long! During the break so far, I have got to Wolfsburg, a city about 2 hours from where I live, with my AFS chapter to go to a science museum and then explore the city.
